Independence Square

Conceived as a competition proposal for Podgorica's central civic space, Independence Square is reimagined as a vast, open urban carpet framed by dense tree lines, new public terraces and a clear ceremonial geometry.

A circular white pavilion anchors the composition as both landmark and gathering device, while the square itself remains flexible enough to host everyday strolling, civic events, performances and large public assemblies.

From daytime openness to evening illumination, the project balances monumentality and softness through planting, layered pedestrian routes and carefully integrated public infrastructure that reconnects the square with the surrounding city fabric.
